Custom Garage Cabinets in Huntsville, AL
Huntsville Elite Custom Cabinets builds custom garage cabinets in Huntsville, AL, with over 20 years at the bench and more than 1,000 projects delivered across North Alabama. Tool storage, workbenches, overhead cabinets, locking security storage, and mudroom lockers, all built to order for your garage.
A garage is the hardest room in the house on a cabinet. It isn't climate controlled, the floor is sloped on purpose, and the stuff you put in it is heavy, greasy, or both. We build for that, and we design the layout around what you actually do out there.

Garage Cabinet Types We Build
Most garages need three or four of these working together, not all fifteen. Here's what each one does and where it earns its space.
Base Garage Cabinets
Floor-mounted boxes that carry the weight and the worktop above them. We build them on cabinet-grade plywood with a solid sub-top, not a stapled shell with a laminate skin. Adjustable levelers underneath, because a garage slab is poured with drainage slope and is never flat. This is where the tools you touch every weekend live.
Wall-Mounted Cabinets
The fastest way to get your floor back. We hang uppers off a ledger lagged into studs at 16 inches on center, so the load goes into framing and not into drywall anchors that creep loose over five years. Shelves adjust on 32mm pin lines. Moisture-resistant boxes, because an uninsulated garage in Huntsville swings hard between July and January.
Tall Utility Cabinets
Full-height storage for the awkward stuff: ladders, brooms, shop vac wands, edgers, and the long-handled things that fall over in every corner they get leaned into. We size the interior to your actual tools, not to a 12-inch grid. Locking doors optional and worth it if kids use the garage.
Tool Storage Cabinets
Deep drawers on full-extension ball-bearing slides, so the drawer comes all the way out and you can see the back of it. We cut foam drawer inserts to your sockets, wrenches, and power tools, which means an empty pocket tells you what's missing before you close up. Drawer boxes are solid wood, dovetailed.
Workbench Cabinets
A bench built at your height, not a standard one. We set the top around 36 inches for general work and go lower if you're mostly doing detail work sitting down. Base cabinets carry storage underneath, the top carries the abuse, and we can run a slatwall or pegboard field directly above it so your layout tools stay at arm's reach.
Overhead Garage Cabinets
Most garages leave the top two feet completely empty. Ceiling-height cabinets and platforms mount into structural joists, never drywall, and we verify the joist direction and spacing during the site visit before we spec anything. This is where holiday bins, camping gear, and the stuff you touch twice a year should be.
Sports Equipment Cabinets
Golf clubs, helmets, cleats, bats, balls, and pads all have different shapes and none of them stack. We build vertical bays for bags and clubs, ventilated cubbies for gear that comes home wet, and open racks for the balls that would otherwise roll under the car. Sized to your family's sports, which change every couple of years.
Automotive Storage Cabinets
Oil, brake fluid, detailing chemicals, and shop rags need a home that isn't the floor next to the water heater. We build chemical-resistant interiors that wipe clean, contained shelving with a lip so a tipped bottle stays in the cabinet, and locking doors for anything flammable or toxic. Keep the hazardous shelf low, not overhead.
Charging Station Cabinets
Cordless tool batteries want one place to live. We build a dedicated bay sized to your charger footprint, with grommets and internal raceways so the cords aren't a nest, plus ventilation because chargers make heat. We coordinate the outlet location with your electrician and build to it. We're cabinetmakers, so we leave the wiring to a licensed hand.
Recycling & Waste Cabinets
Bins hidden behind a door on a pull-out slide, so the garage stops being a landfill. We size the opening to the cans your city actually issues, not to a generic bin. Full-extension hardware means you pull the bin out rather than reaching over it, and the interior wipes down when something inevitably leaks.
Locking Security Cabinets
A garage is the softest target on a house. If you've got a Snap-on roll cab worth more than the car it sits next to, the cabinet holding it should lock properly. We spec commercial-grade cam locks, reinforced door stiles, and hinges that don't let a door get pried at the corner. Keyed alike across the run if you want one key.
Cleaning Supply Cabinets
Tall compartments for the vacuum, the mop, and the broom, standing upright instead of falling sideways. Chemicals get their own shelf with a raised lip and a wipeable surface. We keep the cleaning cabinet away from the tool run on purpose, because bleach and bare steel are a bad pairing in a humid garage.
Hobby & Craft Cabinets
The garage is where woodworking, painting, reloading, and model work end up. We build the drawer layout around what you actually do: shallow drawers for brushes and bits, deep ones for stock, and adjustable organizers you can re-divide when the hobby drifts. Dust collection and a dedicated finishing shelf if you're spraying.
Laundry Garage Cabinets
Plenty of Huntsville homes put the washer and dryer in the garage. We build cabinetry around the machines, with a shelf or uppers over the top, a utility sink cabinet if you've got the plumbing, and detergent and linen storage that isn't a folding table. Moisture-resistant boxes, since this corner is wet by definition.
Mudroom Garage Cabinets
The door from the garage into the house is where the pile forms. Lockers with a bench, hooks at kid height and adult height, cubbies for shoes, and closed cabinets up top for the seasonal overflow. Built the same way as the mudroom lockers we do inside the house, just specced for a space that isn't climate controlled.
Garage Storage Solutions
Cabinets are half the system. The other half is what goes on the walls and the ceiling between them.
Built-in shelving
Fixed and adjustable runs scribed to your walls.
Slatwall systems
Panels that take hooks, bins, and shelves you can move next season.
Pegboard organization
The classic. Cheap, endlessly reconfigurable, and still hard to beat over a bench.
Pull-out drawers
Full-extension, so nothing lives in the dark at the back.
Deep storage bins
Sized to the totes you already own, not to a catalog dimension.
Overhead storage
Joist-mounted platforms for the twice-a-year gear.
Tool organizers
Foam inserts and dividers cut to your specific tools.
Wall racks
Bikes, ladders, hoses, and string trimmers, off the floor and off each other.
Fold-down workstations
A bench that folds flat when the second car has to fit.
Garage Cabinet Features & Options
Hardware is where a cheap garage job quietly cuts corners. You don't see it in the quote, and you find out the first time a loaded drawer sags. Here's what we spec.
Soft-close hinges
Blum and Grass, rated 100,000+ open-close cycles.
Heavy-duty drawer slides
Full-extension ball-bearing hardware sized to the load the drawer will actually carry.
Adjustable shelving
32mm pin lines, so the cabinet adapts as your gear changes.
Locking doors
Commercial-grade cam locks, keyed alike across a run if you want one key.
Moisture-resistant materials
MR substrates and sealed edges throughout. A garage is a humid box.
Scratch-resistant finishes
Catalyzed conversion varnish or TFL surfaces that take a ladder scrape.
Powder-coated hardware
Pulls and steel accents that don't surface-rust in an Alabama August.
LED cabinet lighting
Under-cabinet task light over the bench, where the overhead fixture never reaches.
Integrated power outlets
We build the housings and coordinate with your electrician for the wiring.
Charging stations
Vented battery bays with cable management built in.
Custom drawer inserts
Foam and dividers cut to your sockets, drivers, and power tools.
Pull-out trays
For the heavy, low-frequency things you shouldn't be lifting overhead.
Hidden waste storage
Bins behind a door on a slide, sized to your actual cans.
Garage Countertop Options
The bench top takes more abuse than anything else in the garage. Pick it for the work you do, not for the picture.
Butcher block
Hard maple, and our default for a workbench. It takes a hit, absorbs vibration, and you can sand out the damage instead of replacing the top. Re-oil it once a year and it outlives the garage.
Stainless steel
304 stainless where you want chemical resistance and a surface you can hose intent off of. Loud under a hammer, but nothing shrugs off solvents better.
Laminate
The budget-honest option. HPL over an MR substrate cleans up fine and looks sharp, but it's the one surface here that a dropped chisel will win against.
Epoxy-coated surfaces
A poured epoxy top with no joint to catch solvent, and chemical-resistant across the board. Good pairing if you're already having the floor coated and want the two to match.
Solid surface
Non-porous, renewable with an abrasive pad, and repairable in place. More common in a hobby or car-enthusiast garage that's finished to living-space standards.
Garage Cabinet Materials
Ask any garage cabinet supplier what the box is made of. If the answer is particleboard, you already know how the story ends.
Cabinet-grade plywood
Furniture-grade ply boxes, not particleboard. Particleboard swells once in a humid garage and stays swollen. This is the single biggest difference between our boxes and a big-box garage kit.
High-pressure laminate
Wilsonart and Formica HPL for surfaces that see chemicals and abrasion. Tough, cleanable, and available in finishes that don't look industrial unless you want them to.
Thermally fused laminate
TFL over an MR core. The decorative layer is fused to the panel, so it won't peel at an edge the way a cheap applied laminate does. A solid, cost-effective interior.
Powder-coated steel accents
Toe kicks, brackets, and reinforcement where wood alone shouldn't carry the load. Powder coat over bare steel, because bare steel and humidity don't coexist.
Moisture-resistant composite panels
MR-core panels anywhere near the laundry corner, the utility sink, or a wall that backs to the outdoors.
Commercial-grade hardware
Blum and Grass hinges and slides, commercial cam locks, and steel mounting hardware lagged into framing.
Garages We Design For
We build across Huntsville, Madison, Athens, Decatur, and Triana. A two-car garage that stores lawn gear and a car enthusiast's detached shop need almost nothing in common, so we don't design them the same way.

Why Choose Custom Garage Cabinets
A garage kit is built to fit any garage, which means it fits none of them well. Yours has a water heater in the corner, a panel on one wall, and a door track overhead.
Maximize storage space
Stock cabinets come in fixed widths. Your garage doesn't. Every filler strip is storage you paid for and can't use.
Eliminate clutter
Clutter is usually a layout problem, not a discipline problem. When everything has a place that makes sense, the floor stays clear on its own.
Protect expensive tools
A locked, dry cabinet is cheaper than replacing a tool collection to rust or theft. The garage is the softest entry point on most houses.
Durable enough for daily use
Plywood boxes, dovetailed drawers, hardware rated 100,000+ cycles. The lowest bid is the cabinet you buy twice.
Designed for your layout
We work around the water heater, the panel, the door tracks, and the slope in your slab, because those are what make a garage hard.
Adds usable square footage
A garage you can park in and work in is functional space, not a storage unit with a door. Buyers notice a finished garage. We won't quote you a resale percentage we can't back up.
